LIFE AT ELLIS WHITTAM
At Ellis Whittam we take being happy at work seriously! It is part of our Mission to make Ellis Whittam a friendly, happy and rewarding place to be. In our latest staff survey, carried out in December 2008, 96% of staff reported that they were happy at Ellis Whittam.
We think that there are lots of things that make Ellis Whittam a special place to work. Here is a list of some of them:
We are good at what we do! We strive to be the best. That makes us proud to work at Ellis Whittam and it makes us feel good.
We recognise good work and we remember to say thank you for it!
We pay market rate remuneration – but at EW it is not just about money…
We work in a wonderfully relaxed (and very beautiful) rural setting in the Cheshire countryside (just outside the vibrant City of Chester). We have a lawn (on which we can play croquet), picnic tables, a paddock (where we can play football and rounders), lots of rabbits (!) and fruit trees. We even have an Ellis Whittam vegetable patch! We have a play room with sofas, flat screen TV, wireless laptops for private/personal surfing, a pool table and table football – plus free, really good, cappuccino, expresso and latte etc.
Our staff committee (“BREWS”) is funded by Ellis Whittam and works hard to make Ellis Whittam a happy and rewarding place to work. Within the last 12 months we have all played rounders, football, had a BBQ, cruised (and danced) on the River Dee, had a karaoke evening and enjoyed Pimms on our lawn.
We support a charity that is chosen each year by our staff. Everyone is encouraged to get involved and to do their bit. In the last 12 months we have raised money with sponsored beard growth, sponsored stop smoking, dress down days, fell walking, card & gift making, a charity lunch party and much more.
We try to be green! We flush our loos with rain water collected from our own water harvesting system and we re cycle our waste paper and bottles. Staff are encouraged to lift share with cash benefits paid to those drivers that pick up others. We arrange a mini bus to take staff from Chester (our nearest city) to work and back.
We subsidise staff membership at our local gym.
